How to chose and what domain is the best for your SEO
gTLDs – .net, .com, .org, .info, .biz
ccTLDs – .us, .co, .au, .ca (and many more)
sTLD – .edu, .gov, .travel, .tel, .jobs
gTLDs are wide ranging and incorporate most of the domain names that you are familiar with. gTLDs are broken down into several different groups including sTLDs.
ccTLDs are country specific. In some cases like with .us, you have to be a citizen of that country to purchase the domain. However almost all other domains can be bought from anywhere.
sTLDs is a group of domains that are categorised into the broader term – gTLDs. These domains include .gov and .edu, the holy grails of domain SEO. These two are not open to the public and therefore the authority that comes with them is instantly held in high regard by all major search engines. Of course there are also other sTLDs like .mobi that will cost you £4.50/year and are easily found.
Domain SEO Ranking Order
I’m not going to go into .edu and .gov domains here. Chances are you’re not an owner of any big institutions so let’s skip on that. However I do highly recommend going after webmasters or blog writers on these domains and recommending that they link to worthy material of yours. Blog post on that later.
Domain SEO Ranking Order
Domain Ranking
.org .com .net (gTLDs) They all rank just as well as each other. Any difference is negligible.
.info .biz etc (gTLDs) As a domain name on their own, they will not rank as well as TLDs.
.us .de etc (ccTLDs) Perform well in country specific Google engines. Ranking a .de domain in Google.as is difficult.
It’s not quite that simple
Google.com will rank Carols.org.uk first for the search term “Carols”.
Google.com.au will rank William-Shakespeare.info 3rd for “William Shakespeare”.
As the domain authority of a website increases, the significance of a domain name extension on SEO decreases. If a .info site is linked to from a huge range of unique root domains that have high authority, you can be sure it’s going to rank.
My advice is if you want an easy win and a quick rank then go for a TLD. If you’re only interested in national traffic then go for a ccTLD. And if you’re starting a website that is going to go viral and pull in links from all over the planet… any domain will do – even a nasty gTLD.
This post is focused on SEO, there are conversion and branding issues that haven’t been mentioned but should be taken into account!
Learn more:
Did you know that .tv was a ccTLD for the islands of Tuvalu and not for Television? Did you know that .co stands for Colombia and not Company or Corporation? These things are worth finding out before buying your next domain.

What do you think about Google PageRank? How important is PageRank to you?
Quick: You should not bother at all!
One more time:
You don't care about PageRank, your users don't care about PageRank
and Google merely uses it to signal that a site has been banned.
PageRank is not important any more!
The webmaster guidelines of Google explicitly say that you shouldn't
buy links for PageRank and in this matter you should really trust them.

Writing Submitting Articles | Article Submittion How to Guide
A properly written submitted article should accomplish two goals:
1) Acquire a backlink from the article directory & get backlinks from website publishers who post your article to their site.
2) Get traffic from people who read the article and click on your link in the resource box.
A resource box is what you usually find at the end of an article. It will contain the author's name, perhaps a brief description of the author, and then perhaps a call to action with a link. If a reader likes what they read, they will have the tendency to want to know more. The resource box will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject that they're interested in.
Like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource box takes up very little space, with the right keywords and content it will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site.
Don't forget to include a call to action along with your link in the resource box of the articles you submit. When possible, use your keywords in the anchor text of the link.
I usually try to have two links in my article resource boxes -- one using a keyword and the other using full url as the anchor text.

Get Your Backlinks Noticed By The Search Engines
Here's a quick and easy way to make sure those manual backlinks you're creating get noticed by the search engines a little faster. For those of you who already know what a ping is, you can skip down a little ways.
If you don't... a ping basically lets the search engines know about a new page to index or that an indexed page has been changed.
For example, if I create a new comment with a backlink on a blog, then I would want to ping the url where the backlink was to let the search engines know that the page has changed. Then they will crawl the url and see that there is backlink on that page to my site.
Pinging is already a pretty simple process, but for those of you like me who are lazy, here's a way to make it extremely simple.
Take the following code from this page:
>> Click Here To Get The Code <<
Make it as a bookmark in your web browser. You will have to put the code as the "url" for the bookmark.
Now after you've created a new backlink and you're on the page where the backlink is, then you simply click on the bookmark that has this code.
In a few short seconds you will be on a page that has a list of sites that have all been pinged through Ping-O-Matic!
For those of you who are already pinging regularly I'm sure you will find this very useful. And those of you who aren't pinging can use this to easily get started.
Enjoy!

Link Baiting
Another link baiting tactic that you can use is to be controversial. When you write about controversial subjects, people have a tendancy to get "stirred up" and they'll want to take action by linking to your site and/or leaving comments.
A great example of this would be this past US Presidential election. The country was fairly divided between candidates Barack Obama and John McCain ... and those that liked one basically hated the other. If you were to post anything negative about Obama, then his supporters would be quick to bash you ... and McCains supporters would be quick to support you. Either way you would get plenty of backlinks! :-)

How To Get EDU and GOV Backlinks
Quite a few college students & professors have their own blog (on a edu domain). So if you are trying to acquire edu backlinks all you have to do is post a comment on a college blog.
To find an edu blog, just do a Google search for:
site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment"
Be sure to post relevant comments ... you don't want to spam the edu blogs or your comment post will get deleted.Leave a *quality* comment.
Be respectful of the blog owner and don't spam -- leave sincere comments that actually add value. I consider this a fair exchange ... I am adding content to the blog owners site and he is giving me a backlink. Both sides win!

How Google Calculates Page Rank? Page Rank Calculation
Even if the index of a website has a high Page Rank, it does not mean that a newly created web page on that website will have any Page Rank.
Take for example a Squidoo lens you create, or an Ezine article you write. Even though Squidoo has a high Page Rank for its homepage, you'll find that your newly created lens will have a Page Rank of 0.
That's because there will be 0 links pointing directly towards your new lens. A link pointing towards a web page is known as a "backlink", and contributes to that pages Page Rank.
Whenever there is a link on the internet that points toward a specific web page, that pages Page Rank is increased (with the exception of nofollow links). The amount it increases is determined by the Page Rank of the web page that is pointing to it, and a few other things that we won't go into.
A link from a site with a Page Rank of 0 will not do much to boost a web pages Page Rank, but it will boost it a tiny bit. A link from a site with a Page Rank of 5 however would instantly raise that web pages Page Rank to a much higher level.
0.15 + ( 0.85 * ( a "share" of the PR of every webpage links to it) ) = YOUR PR
0.15= The lowest PR a webpage could ever possibly have
0.85= Dampening factor...This is just the number that Google uses for their PR formula
"share" = the PR of the page linking to you divided by the total number of links on that page.
READY FOR AN EXTREMLY POWERFUL TRICK THAT I SUGGEST TO ALL OF MY CLIENTS WEBSITE?
So, by removing ALL unnecessary links on a page, you will be able to pass more Page Rank to the other pages that you link to...
Why is this important? Remember, the higher the Page Rank a page has, the better it will rank.
So, what are unnecessary links? Unnecessary links could be when you link to another website(link partner) and they don't link back to you.
By linking out to a "link partner", you're giving them a percentage of your Page Rank that you could be passing to other pages within YOUR website.
If this "link partner" isn't linking back to your website, there is no need to ever link to them. You're just hurting your ranking by doing so!
